Technical note on Jemima’s work   

Jemima uses pearlescent or interference pigments extensively.

These pigments produce a shimmering / reflective quality which changes according to the source and strength of light.

The paintings can therefore look different at various times of day. It is recommended that the paintings are hung somewhere with good natural light to gain the most from this effect.

This reflective quality is virtually impossible to capture by camera. Keep in mind then that there’s this other dimension missing from the images on the website.

And the real thing looks much much better!!
